August 2018 – Green Fins Philippines – Building capacity to manage El Nido’s booming snorkelling industry
Between 6-11 August 2018, seven new assessors were certified, creating new collaborations between the El Nido-Taytay Managed Resource Protected Area Office, CENRO Taytay and The El Nido Foundation.
September 2017 – Global Coral Reef Partnership Workshops, Cambridge, U.K.
The UK organisation behind the international coordination of Green Fins (Reef-World) was part of the design and coordination of a series of workshops that took place at the World Monitoring Conservation Centre (WCMC) based in Cambridge, UK from the 26th to 29th September.
September 2017 – Green Fins Philippines – Technical Bulletin on Guidelines on the Implementation of Environmental Standards for Diving and Snorkelling issued
The Technical Bulletin No. 2017-13 provides the legal instrument and structure for Regional and Provincial governments across the country to start implementing the international Green Fins environmental standards.
October 2016 – Green Fins inspires tourists in Xiamen, China to ‘Be the Best Diver – the Green Fins Way’
At the end of October, Reef-World staff Charlie Wiseman and Lui Hepworth participated in the 9th Xiamen Recreational Fisheries and Aquarium Expo (XRFE).
May 2016 – Launch of the Green Fins Snorkel Assessor Training – El Nido, Philippines
In May 2016, The Reef-World Foundation launched the first Green Fins Snorkel Assessor Training programme in El Nido, Philippines.
April 2016 – If Your Mission is to #SaveOurReefs, then Green Fins Really Does Work – Research Published in Environmental Management
Since 2012, in collaboration with Bangor University, Reef-World has been collecting data on diving behaviour in the Philippines and the adoption of Green Fins environmental practices as part of a study into the impacts of scuba diving on the health of our coral reefs.
