Reef-World is proud to announce the formation of the latest Green Fins Ambassador group in Malapascua.
Green Fins Coordinators have recently been assessing dive centres on Malapascua Island and despite the memory of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) one year on, the community remains strong and empowered.
Recently, the Green Fins Vietnam National Team led by the Institute of Oceanography (IO) and The Reef-World Foundation conducted the second round of assessments and training for dive centre members in Nha Trang.
With support from DENR Region 7 and the Regional technical Director Al Orolfo, The Reef-World Foundation was invited to carry out this training in Mactan, an island just off the coast of Cebu City where their Regional office is located.
Reef-World has recently returned from a three week mission to recruit, train and assess new dive centres in Ari Atoll
UNEP invited 12 selected journalists to El Nido to witness a successful example of sustainable production and consumption patterns in action – the Green Fins approach.
The Reef-World Foundation were very kindly invited to participate in the ‘Regional Forum on Solutions for Oceans, Coasts and Human Well-Being in Asia and the Pacific’ held in Cebu City, Philippines in May.
As Green Fins hits 10 years since it’s inception by UNEP, all the project partners across seven countries met in Bangkok to share past successes and discuss next steps for Green Fins in each country.
The Reef-World Foundation, with the support of the United Nations Environment Programme, ran a booth at ADEX aimed at promoting the project and reaching out to divers to adopt best practices.
