This website is managed by the UK registered charity The Reef-World Foundation (Registered Charity No. 1157096). We believe in operating in an open and transparent manner that is in accordance with the law and relevant regulations. Our Privacy Policy has been developed to ensure that those who use this site and affiliated third-party websites are aware of what data we collect, how we use that data and what we do with it. Who we are 

The Green Fins approach is not a registered business or organisations but a management approach adopted at the national level to help reduce the impacts from businesses that provide SCUBA diving and snorkelling activities. The Reef-World Foundation, a UK registered charity with the UK Charites Commissions (No. 1157096) are the International Coordinators who oversee the design, development and implementation of the approach.

Why we collect information 

In order to enhance user experience and make sure that visitors to the site get the best out of it, we collect various types of information that allow us to make adjustments to site, stay in contact with you and allow those to help support our work through providing donations to the charity to help our work.

What information do we collect and how we collect it 

Cookies - A cookie is a small file placed on your computer’s hard drive but it does not provide Reef-World access to your computer or any information stored on it. This website in particular uses what is called a session cookie (called ci_session) in order to allow the site to function correctly It enables this website to identify your computer as you view different pages on our website. Cookies allow websites and applications to store your preferences in order to present content, options or functions that are specific to you. They also allow us to see information such as how many people use the website and what pages they visit. We use this data to help improve the website functionality, user flow and overall design. Cookies will also mean that when you return to this site, it will show your previously seen content or information in a more efficient manner making the site more user-friendly.  

The use of Cookies is entirely optional and if you would prefer to not allow cookies to be used on this site then you should make the necessary changes in your web browser to ensure that it refuses cookie use of this site. If you have visited the website previously you might need to delete previous cookies on your computer associated with www.greenfins.net if you so wish to do so.

Newsletters - We also collect information on your name and email address if you decide to sign up to our Newsletter. For this Reef-World uses a third party site called Mail Chimp who we pass these details to. They have their own Privacy Policy and you can view it here. You can opt out of all newsletters at any time and information to do this is at the bottom of all newsletters that we send out to you

Donations - In order to collect donations to support our charitable aims and objectives, we use a third part website called Charity Checkout who store your information and share it with us. They have their own Privacy Policy and can been seen here. They safely and securely store all credit/debit card details but this is NOT shared with us. We do not store or collect any financial information from you. We only receive from Charity Checkout, your name, email and address and how much you have donated to The Reef-World Foundation.

Store - The Reef-World Foundation outsources all Green Fins merchandise to a third-party website called Teemill.com. They do not share with us any information from people who choose to purchase Green Fins merchandise through their website. They have their own Privacy Policy which can be viewed here.

Google Analytics - For your information we have chosen to use IP anonymization so that we do not collect information on your IP address.

What we use your data for 

We will mainly use the data we collect to provide you with the services, products or information you asked for. We will also use your data to help manage your communication preferences, including marketing preferences for fundraising purposes in accordance with our policies and procedures and the best practice code set out by the Fundraising Regulator: Code of Fundraising Practice. We will also use your data to keep you up to date with the work you are supporting through our Newsletters that we will send out to you directly.

Who we share your data with

As mentioned above when signing up to Newsletters, we will share your name and email address with Mail Chimp only Nothing else. Also, when you choose to donate, you will be directly sharing your information with Charity Checkout who will share with us information on your name, email and address. We do not share or provide any other information to anyone else. If you purchase anything from Teemill.com, we do not receive any information on you whatsoever. We do not share or sell your details to anyone else.

How we keep your data safe 

We keep all information that you provide to us securely stored at all times.  Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems and are required to keep the information confidential. Should a data breach occur we will notify you via email within 7 business days.

Your data and privacy rights are important to us. To find out more information about privacy and your rights, the Information Commissioner’s Office can provide you with the details you need. They are the UK’s independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals.
